The resistance anomaly in the surface layer of Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8 + x single crystals under radio - frequency irradiation

چکیده
We observed that radio-frequency (rf) irradiation significantly enhances the c-axis resistance near and below the superconducting transition of the CuO2 layer in contact with a normal-metal electrode on the surface of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x single crystals. We attribute the resistance anomaly to the rf-induced charge-imbalance nonequilibrium effect in the surface CuO2 layer. The relaxation of the charge-imbalance in this highly anisotropic system is impeded by the slow quasiparticle recombination rate, which results in the observed excessive resistance.

Imaging the structure of the domain wall between symmetries interconnected by a discontinuous transition
We have been able to observe with single particle resolution the interface between two structural symmetries that cannot be interconnected by a continuous transition. By means of an engineered 2D potential that pins the extremity of vortex strings an square symmetry was imposed at the surface of a 3D vortex solid. Using the Bitter decoration technique and on account of the continuous vortex sym...
متن کاملFirst Scanning Tunnelling Spectroscopy on Bi 2 Sr 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O 10 + δ single crystals
We report the first low temperature scanning tunnelling microscopy and spec-troscopy study of high quality Bi 2 Sr 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O 10+δ crystals. We present atomic resolution and show spectroscopic data acquired on two different samples. In one case, for T c = 109 K and a transition width of only 1 K, we obtained an extremely homogeneous sample with ∆ p = 60 meV over at least 50 nm. In the other ...
متن کاملBilayer splitting in the electronic structure of heavily overdoped Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+delta).
The electronic structure of heavily overdoped Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+delta) is investigated by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The long-sought bilayer band splitting in this two-plane system is observed in both normal and superconducting states, which qualitatively agrees with the bilayer Hubbard model calculations. The maximum bilayer energy splitting is about 88 meV for the normal st...
متن کاملRoom temperature multiferroicity in Bi4.2K0.8Fe2O9+δ
Magnetoelectric multiferroics are materials that have coupled magnetic and electric dipole orders, which can bring novel physical phenomena and offer possibilities for new device functions. In this report, single-crystalline Bi(4.2)K(0.8)Fe(2)O(9+δ) nanobelts which are isostructural with the high-temperature superconductor Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+δ) are successfully grown by a hydrothermal method....
